LLG's Annual Governance Conference this week was another resounding success. Hosted by our President, Doreen Forrester-Brown, the conference maintained its reputation for the quality of its speakers and the opportunities for networking. Teeing Off with Bevan Brittan quite literally a drinks reception followed at Gowling WLG before the two day conference with dinner showcasing the entertaining anecdotes of Clive Myrie -BBC Correspondent including some interesting commentary on the Presidential election!
As always the conference included the wider context in which we work. Sessions on the future for public services and on leadership combined with topical legal issues. The latter included plenary sessions on regeneration and housing, governance of our increasingly diverse delivery vehicles and top cases of the year. In addition delegates could choose from 16 break-out sessions ranging from devolution to the effects of technology on the practice of law.
The conference is part of the legal training programme delivered for LLG by LLG Enterprises. We are currently advertising for two new directors to join the LLG Enterprises Board. If you are interested in working with us to develop our training offer for lawyers and other local government professions we would be delighted to hear from you. If you have any questions about either of these opportunities, please contact Ann Harlow at firstname.lastname@example.org. The closing date for applications is Wednesday 30 November 2016 and further details can be found at http://lawingov.org.uk/news_articles/llg-enterprises-ltd-board-director-vacancies. Applications will be considered on 9th December when the LLG Board will appoint the two new directors.
